The former head of the National Anti-Doping Center will be tried for embezzling over 10 million hryvnias
Cyber police operatives and investigators from the Shevchenkivskyi police department of Kyiv, under the procedural guidance of the Shevchenkivskyi district prosecutor’s office, exposed the former head of the National Anti-Doping Center in the embezzlement of state funds.
The investigation established that the acting director of the center committed official negligence during the tender process for purchasing equipment for hormone and protein analysis. The contract was signed for more than 42 million hryvnias, which significantly exceeded the average market value. The tender conditions were tailored to a specific company, which appeared to be fictitious.
The director of the winning company turned out to be a man who had been repeatedly held accountable for petty thefts. He denies any involvement in the deal.
According to expert findings, the damages to the state were estimated at over 10 million hryvnias. Last fall, the official was informed of the suspicion under part 2 of article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for up to five years of imprisonment and a ban on holding certain positions.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the indictment has already been submitted to the court.
