RMA: In the Lviv region, a halt of transport is being implemented during the minute of silence
In the Lviv region, a traffic stop is being implemented during a minute of silence. Every morning, police officers will remind drivers to stop at 9:00 AM for one minute.
This was announced by the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, on Friday, February 14.
The decision to implement a minute of silence for traffic was made by the region’s Defense Council on Friday, February 14. All transport in populated areas will halt movement for one minute, with the exception of emergency service vehicles.
"This initiative is an important part of honoring the memory of those who died in the war. The national minute of silence in Ukraine was introduced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in March 2022," the statement reads.
Incidentally, in the Lviv region, the stop of transport during the minute of silence was popularized by the public initiative "Vshanuvannya," the ideological inspiration of which was the late volunteer paramedic and journalist Iryna Tsybukh. "Let the minute of silence at 9:00 AM become a daily tradition of our gratitude and memory for the fallen," Maksym Kozytskyi added.
