The former head of the GTS Operator Makohon has been notified of suspicion
The former CEO of the "Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine" has been served a notice of suspicion. The suspect is currently abroad.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv police.
According to the investigation, in 2021, the monopoly company responsible for transporting natural gas to consumers in Ukraine and EU countries, under the leadership of the official, received 20 billion hryvnias in net profit. Out of this amount, 90% was supposed to be transferred to the state budget as dividends.
Law enforcement officers determined that the former head of the "Gas Transmission System Operator" decided not to distribute the income and not to direct the funds to the budget. This resulted in material damages to the state amounting to over 18 billion hryvnias.
In September 2022, the supervisory board of the "Gas Transmission System Operator" dismissed the violator due to unsatisfactory performance of the strategic enterprise. The police note that he entered false information into the order for his business trip to Vienna and left Ukraine.
The suspect was served a notice of suspicion in absentia under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (improper performance of official duties by an official due to negligent attitude towards them, which caused serious consequences to state interests protected by law) and under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (drafting, issuing knowingly false official documents, and entering knowingly false information into official documents).
The suspect faces up to five years in prison.

It is worth noting that law enforcement has not disclosed the name of the person involved in the case. However, it is known that Serhiy Makogon headed the "Gas Transmission System Operator" from its creation in 2019 until September 2022.
