Trump stopped military aid deliveries to Ukraine because Kyiv "does not want a settlement"
U.S. President Donald Trump, commenting on the suspension of American aid to Ukraine, stated that he made this decision because, in his view, Kyiv "does not want a settlement".
He said this during his speech in the Oval Office.
Trump was asked why he is not supplying Ukraine with air defense systems amid Russia’s massive strikes on Ukrainian cities.
In response, the American president stated: "Because I don’t know if they (the Ukrainians — Ed.) want a settlement. If they don’t want a settlement, we will leave... I’m doing this because I want to stop the deaths. This is more important than anything else."
In addition, Trump once again repeated false claims that the U.S. has provided Ukraine with $350 billion in aid, while Europe has provided $100 billion.
The head of the White House believes that Europe should do more for Ukraine.
"You know, I’ve been watching what’s happening in Europe last week or so. This could end in World War Three. If we don’t settle this," — Trump concluded.
