Qualified as a terrorist attack: In Rivne, a car exploded near a shopping center

An explosion occurred in the center of Rivne near one of the shopping malls. It was preliminarily determined that a homemade explosive device detonated in the car.

This is reported by the National Police, Rivne Police.

The car explosion happened today, March 20, at approximately 1:40 PM on Kyivska Street. As a result, the driver and passenger were injured and hospitalized.

According to sources from Suspilne, one of the men is in critical condition, while the other is in serious but stable condition.

Law enforcement classified the incident as a terrorist act.

Police explosives experts inspected the area. An investigative-operational group was working at the scene.

SSU investigators have started a pre-trial investigation under Article 258 (terrorist act) and Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosive substances) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
