Zelenskyy: During the talks in Riyadh, the issue of territories was not discussed
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during the latest negotiations, the issue of Ukrainian territories occupied by the aggressor country was not discussed.
The head of state made this statement at a briefing on March 25, responding to a question about the possibilities of reaching an agreement on a ceasefire in a situation where the Russian Federation demands to surrender Kherson and Zaporizhzhya.
"There are no questions regarding territories, so it doesn’t matter what they (the Russians - ed.) say. We must follow our strategy. I believe whatever decisions about the ceasefire are made, even partial ones, they fit into our strategy. Why? Because we show that we want to end the war," Zelenskyy stated.
The head of state also pointed out that the Ukrainian side clearly demonstrates its desire to end the war. Meanwhile, the Russian side tries to "distort" the terms of compliance and disrupt ceasefire agreements.
"So when the Russians start ’twisting’ things, saying, supposedly, an incomplete ceasefire, and supposedly not in this region, but in another: it doesn’t matter! This is all a loss for those who really want to continue the war. Because he (Putin - ed.) will disrupt all ceasefire agreements," he added.
According to the President, in case of non-compliance with ceasefire agreements by the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian side will raise questions with partners.
"As soon as we agree on a ceasefire - we’ve done our job. Then I have a direct question to President Trump. Like, we are very grateful, you really negotiated. But if they violate it – we ask for sanctions, we ask for sanctions, we ask for weapons... That’s my position," Zelenskyy emphasized.
