Turkish President Erdogan expressed support for Trump’s plan to end the war in Ukraine

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed support for American leader Donald Trump’s approach to resolving the war between Russia and Ukraine.

He stated this during a briefing following his visit to Italy, noting that he and Trump maintain contact in the format of "telephone diplomacy."

"I believe that in the new period, our bilateral relations with my friend Trump will gain a completely different momentum. We also support his vision of peace, particularly between Russia and Ukraine. We welcome his position, which takes into account Turkey’s sensitivity," Erdoğan said.

He also noted that Ankara and Washington can reach compromises on issues where their approaches differ, particularly regarding the situation in Syria, and emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy between leaders.
