Meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy is possible, — Peskov

The spokesperson for the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitriy Peskov, stated that a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy is possible, but only after certain agreements are reached between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations.

He reported this while commenting on the results of the negotiations in Istanbul, where the parties agreed to exchange lists of conditions for a ceasefire. According to Peskov, Russia is already preparing its list, but the Kremlin refuses to comment on media reports regarding specific demands, such as the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from occupied territories.

Peskov also emphasized that for Russia, the “main and fundamental” issue when signing any documents is the choice of the signatory from the Ukrainian side. This is a transparent hint at Moscow’s position, which, from May 2024, does not recognize the legitimacy of President Zelenskyy. In response, Ukraine and Western countries reject such accusations, emphasizing the legality of the Ukrainian head of state’s powers.

The Kremlin added that work on the Ukrainian settlement will continue, but final decisions have not yet been made.
