In Ukraine, mobilization measures are being intensified: checkpoints are being set up in regions to search for servicemen who are absent without leave
In Ukraine, mobilization measures may be significantly intensified in the near future. Specifically, in Poltava region, a decision has already been made to establish nine mobile checkpoints in four districts of the region.
These checkpoints are planned to identify persons with the status of AWOL — those liable for military service who have voluntarily left their unit or place of service. Such mobile groups will include representatives of the police, territorial recruitment centers (TRCs), the Military Law Enforcement Service, and the Security Service of Ukraine.
Similar initiatives are already being implemented in Kyiv, and checkpoints have been operational in Kharkiv since October 2024. There, they were used as a pilot project—essentially a testing of the enhanced control model in a large city.
It is expected that similar checkpoints may also appear in other regions of Ukraine. This indicates a trend towards the unification and scaling of measures to identify and hold accountable those who evade military duty.
