The United Kingdom announced new sanctions against Russia
The United Kingdom announced new sanctions against Russia due to the war in Ukraine. Prime Minister Keir Starmer characterized this as part of a coordinated move by the Group of Seven (G7) countries.
This was reported by Reuters.
It is noted that the latest British sanctions target four individuals, six legal entities, and 20 vessels, including oil tankers, companies related to maritime transport, and suppliers of goods to Russia – particularly electronics.
Starmer is expected to outline the details of the sanctions today at the G7 summit in Canada. The UK has already imposed sanctions on over 2,300 Russian individuals, entities, and ships since 2022.
By the way, the Council of the European Union extended the sanctions imposed in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by Russia until June 23, 2026. It is noted that the EU does not recognize and continues to condemn the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation as a violation of international law.
As reported, the economy of the Russian Federation has begun to feel the impact of Western sanctions. At the same time, restrictions will truly affect the Russian army starting in the summer of 2026 due to a shortage of funds.
