In the Chernihiv region, a fatal road accident occurred: a passenger died, and the driver was injured

On the highway "Kipti — Hlukhiv — Bachivsk" in Chernihiv region, on June 22, a 47-year-old passenger died as a result of a road traffic accident, and the driver was injured.

This was reported by the department for civil protection and defence work of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration on its website.

A 28-year-old driver of a Ford Mondeo tried to avoid a collision with a car that had entered the oncoming lane, drove off the road, and crashed into a tree.

The driver was hospitalized in Nizhyn hospital.

As informed by the police of Chernihiv region, an investigator is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the accident under part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules causing the death of the victim).

The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment from three to eight years with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without such deprivation.
