Dozens of interceptions: Today interceptor drones were used, we are scaling the technology, - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his views regarding the massive drone attack on regions of Ukraine on the night of July 9, 2025.

The head of state reported this on Telegram.

"A new massive attack by Russia against our cities. There were the largest number of aerial targets within a day – 741 targets: 728 drones of various types, over 300 of which were ’Shaheds’, and 13 missiles – ’Kinzhal’ and ’Iskander’. Most targets were shot down. We employed our interceptor drones – dozens of them were downed, we are scaling the technology. Mobile fire teams also worked – we have dozens of shootdowns there as well. Thank you to all the soldiers for their accuracy," the message reads.

Zelenskyy called these Russian strikes characteristic attacks, especially now when there have been so many attempts to achieve peace and ceasefire.

"And only Russia rejects everything. This is yet more proof that sanctions are needed – painful sanctions against oil, which has been fueling Moscow’s war machine with money for over three years of war. Secondary sanctions against those who buy this oil and sponsor the killings. Partners know how to press such that Russia will be forced to think about ending the war, not about new strikes. Everyone who wants peace must act," he added.
