Scandal Pin-Up: The director of the online casino Popenko avoided prison despite billion-dollar crimes

Case of Pin-Up: Online casino director Oleksiy Popenko is released.

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv approved an agreement between the prosecutor and the accused. He was sentenced to 5 years with a suspension of the sentence for 3 years:

- Conducting business activities in cooperation with an aggressor state (part 4 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
- Participation in a criminal organization (part 3 of Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
- Intentional tax evasion on a particularly large scale (part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
- Legalization of property obtained through criminal means (part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
- Official forgery (part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)

The court also applied special confiscation, seizing 2.6 billion UAH for the state revenue.
