Marchenko initiated the suspension of the Head of the Energy Customs Komar during the investigation

Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko instructed the acting head of the State Customs Service to consider the temporary suspension of Anatoliy Komar, the head of the Energy Customs, from his duties.

This decision was made in connection with an ongoing internal investigation. A final decision on the appropriateness of Komar remaining in his position will be made based on the results of an audit by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NAPC) and law enforcement agencies.

Media reported that in 2020, Anatoliy Komar’s father-in-law purchased 20 ares of land in the elite suburb of Kyiv – the village of Vyshenky. A mansion of 450 square meters is currently being completed there. According to experts’ estimates, the cost of such construction is about 70 million hryvnias, or more than 1.5 million US dollars.

These circumstances raised suspicions of possible illicit enrichment and prompted an integrity check of the official.
