Combat battalions will receive 7 million hryvnias each for weapons, - Shmyhal

Combat brigades will receive 7 million hryvnias for each battalion. These funds will be used for purchasing weapons.

This was announced by Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal in Telegram.

"Following the meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters, a decision was made to increase the direct funding volumes for brigades for procurement. This will provide combat units with more opportunities to independently meet their needs," the statement reads.

Funding will increase in proportion to the number of battalions carrying out combat missions. As Shmyhal noted, for each brigade, this will amount to additional tens of millions of hryvnias.

From now on, each brigade will receive 7 million hryvnias for each battalion operating on the front line. With these funds, the military will be able to purchase more drones and other necessary equipment.

The head of the Ministry of Defence noted that an urgent meeting of the budget commission was held, during which funds were reallocated to increase funding for battalions currently operating at the front.

"The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is forming a list of such units. The task is to transfer the funds as quickly as possible," Shmyhal added.
