In Svyatohirsk, Donetsk region, two police officers were killed due to Russian shelling
In the city of Svyatohirsk, located in the Donetsk region, police captain Roman Penkov and senior police sergeant Valentyn Havrysh were killed in the line of duty as a result of shelling by Russian forces.
This was reported by the Donetsk region police.
"The vehicle in which the police officers were traveling came under enemy fire. Senior district officer from police department No. 4 (Slovyansk) of the Kramatorsk district police department Roman Penkov and police driver of the police security department Valentyn Havrysh received fatal injuries," the message says.
Penkov is from Rayhorodok, which is located in the Kramatorsk district. "As a district police officer, he knew every corner of his native area and was always the first to come to the aid of residents," the report says.
The policeman is survived by his parents, wife, and seven-year-old daughter.
Valentyn Havrysh was born in Novoselivka of the Lyman district. He joined the ranks of the National Police in 2019. Since September 2021, he had been performing the duties of a police driver for the response platoon in the Slovyansk city department of the Mariupol interdistrict department of the Police Security Department of the Donetsk region.
"He was a loving son, brother, and husband," the police noted.
