The ECHR obliged Ukraine to pay Nasirov almost 10,000 euros for inadequate medical treatment
The European Court of Human Rights issued a ruling in the case "Monakhov and Others v. Ukraine". Within this case, the former head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, claimed that he was not provided with proper medical treatment while in custody.
In his statement, the former head of the SFS noted that the High Anti-Corruption Court twice ordered his transfer to a hospital for a full examination and treatment. However, according to him, these orders were not carried out. It was only in April 2024 that Nasirov was briefly hospitalized.
"The systematic failure to enforce court decisions and the lack of timely proper treatment indicate serious deficiencies in the provision of medical care while in custody," stated the ECtHR materials.
Recall that, according to the investigation, Roman Nasirov received a bribe of over 722 million hryvnias in exchange for facilitating VAT refunds to companies controlled by the owner of an agroholding, amounting to over 3.2 billion hryvnias. Although the names are not mentioned in the case materials, media reports indicate that this refers to oligarch Oleh Bakhmatyuk, owner of UkrLandFarming company.
