In the Rivne region, a woman forged disability documents so that her son could avoid mobilization
A woman from Rivne region was convicted for document forgery and their use. According to the court’s materials, she altered her disability group in her documents using Photoshop and a correction pen, and passed the forged certificates to her son for submission to the military enlistment office.
This became known from the verdict of the Kostopil District Court.
The investigation established that a businesswoman from the village of Znosychi in Sarny district decided to help her son avoid conscription. To do this, she changed her own disability group from the third to the second in the documents, which would grant him a deferment from mobilization.
According to the court, in 2024 she scanned her pension certificate issued by the Pension Fund indicating the III disability group, after which she used Photoshop to make changes to the electronic document file, replacing “III group” with “II group”. She then printed the forged certificate.
Additionally, the woman made changes to the certificate of the medical-social expert commission (MSEC). She made a copy of the certificate, erased the word “third” in the section about the disability group with a correction pen, and wrote “second”.
She handed both forged documents to her son, who presented them at the territorial recruitment center as proof that his mother has a II disability group, according to the verdict. According to the official data of the Rivne regional MSEC, the woman was assigned the third disability group.
The court found her guilty of forgery and use of forged documents.
During the investigation, the woman expressed remorse and facilitated the disclosure of the crime, so the court considered this as mitigating circumstances. The woman is not registered with a psychiatrist or narcologist and has no previous convictions.
According to the verdict, she was sentenced to a fine of 8,500 hryvnias, and the confiscation of seized property was canceled — among the material evidence was a Canon scanning device, which she might have used to make copies of documents.
