A person resembling the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, recommended for the position of State Secretary of the Ministry, Oleksiy Takhtay, was seen in a scandalous video documenting an act of corruption in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

This was reported on Facebook by MP Alyona Shkrum from the "Batkivshchyna" party.

She released the footage, recorded at the end of 2014 with a hidden camera in the office of the controversially dismissed First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Serhiy Chebotar.

"In the nomination for the ’most odious’ winner of the competition for (the position of) State Secretary in a special series #zrada or ’Shatun-sand’, Avakov’s appointee – Mr. Takhtay wins," she wrote.

"In the video from November 27, 2014, in Mr. Chebotar’s office (remember him?), the conversation is between a person extremely resembling our Mr. Takhtay (facing us in the video) and the director of ’Special Services’ discussing deals with the infamous sand," the text reads.

Then she addressed the users: "If the Commission sees no issues with the criteria ’virtue’ and ’personal qualities of the candidate’, maybe you will see them, and the Cabinet of Ministers will see them when reviewing the Commission’s proposals." Get acquainted with the candidate recommended by the Commission yesterday for the State Secretary position in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for five years," the politician added.

"Only the publicity of this situation can stop such amazing stories in the best traditions of a criminal-comedy detective. Only it’s no longer funny," Shkrum concluded.
