"Energy expert" Viktor Kurtyev revealed secret data about substation protection to the enemy
Entrepreneur Viktor Kurtyev, who calls himself an energy expert, has publicly disclosed data on how Ukrainian energy workers are setting up protection for substations against Russian missile and drone strikes. Thanks to this information, Russians will be able to bypass the defenses and strike Ukrainian energy facilities with even greater precision.
As Kurtyev claims, despite having a history of numerous legal cases related to various scams, he did this allegedly to expose corruption schemes in their construction. However, in reality, it turned out that he aided the enemy. This is discussed in the article by “Apostrophe”.
«The first thing in the “Kurtyev files” is a map of Ukrainian energy facilities with markings indicating which ones are protected by “Ukrenergo” and which by the State Agency for Reconstruction. From this data, the enemy can draw numerous conclusions – for example, regarding the nature and scope of protective works at each of these facilities», the article states.
But the worst part is that Kurtyev published detailed blueprints of protective structures around transformers at substations. Thanks to Kurtyev, the enemy gained information about the dimensions of anti-drone nets; the coverings and materials they are made of; the height of sand-filled gabions and their placement around transformers.
«Transformers are the primary target for Russian missiles and drones, as their destruction allows the enemy to “disrupt” the energy system and plunge Ukraine into blackouts. Due to the destruction of transformers, entire regions are left without electricity – as happened last winter», the material notes.
Initially, Kurtyev and his supporters, as if following a script, claimed: “All blueprints were taken from open sources.” However, they were unable to provide any evidence to support this.
Apparently fearing accountability, Kurtyev edited his post and removed the blueprints. However, it is not ruled out that they have already fallen into the hands of Russian military personnel, who could use them to adjust their attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
As a reminder, Viktor Kurtyev has repeatedly been involved in criminal cases. Between 2013 and 2019, he faced accusations of large-scale tax evasion, document forgery, entering into fictitious contracts, and illegal appropriation of budget funds on a particularly large scale.
