Avdiivka may come under Russian control, – Kirby

In Avdiivka, Donetsk region, the situation is critical; the city may come under the control of the Russian Federation due to a lack of ammunition in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, stated this at a briefing.

"Unfortunately, we are receiving information from Ukraine that the situation in Avdiivka is critical. Russia continues to push Ukrainian positions on a daily basis. Avdiivka is at risk of falling under the control of Russian troops," Kirby said.

He added that if Republicans do not take action soon and pass a bill to help Ukraine, “what is happening now in Avdiivka may well happen on other parts of this front.”

“Due to the fact that Congress has not approved the request for additional funding, we cannot send new aid to Ukraine,” Kirby concluded.
