Russia is waging a disinformation campaign to undermine Zelenskyy’s position
The Washington Post writes about this with reference to documents obtained by the European intelligence service.
The publication writes that Volodymyr Putin’s administration ordered a group of Russian political strategists to use social media and fake news articles to promote the theme that Zelenskyy is "hysterical and weak".
"He’s afraid of being pushed aside, so he’s getting rid of the dangerous ones," was how these resources commented on Zaluzhnyi’s resignation.
WP claims that the Kremlin’s instructions led to thousands of posts on social media and hundreds of articles.
"Now that General Zaluzhnyi has resigned, the front line is frozen, and further military and financial support from the United States is uncertain, some in Kyiv are concerned that Russia’s covert propaganda efforts could begin to undermine national cohesion and morale," the article says.
The same fears exist in the West.
"The hardest times are still ahead. Russia has survived, and they are preparing a new campaign consisting of three main areas: first, pressure on the front line; second, attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure; and third, this destabilisation campaign," said one senior European security official.
