The 115th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied information about the situation in Ocheretyne

Recently, Roman Pohorilyi, the founder of the DeepState online resource, posted on his Telegram channel that the 115th Separate Mechanised Brigade was responsible for the collapse of defences near the village of Ocheretyne.

The accusations made by Roman Pohorilyi are false. The accusations, who is guilty or not guilty, are determined exclusively by the commission based on the results of the investigation.

This whole thing was picked up by several Ukrainian media outlets, but mostly by more than 50 Russian, hostile media outlets (Lenta.ru, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, TASS, Glavred, Vesti, ... and, of course, Skabeyeva’s Kremlin mouthpiece, Teleprogramma), and wrote that the Russian breakthrough became possible after the 115th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suddenly left its positions without permission and fled.

Here is the 115th Mechanised Brigade’s commentary on the events in the area of Ocheretyne.

The 115th Brigade occupied a defence line in front of the settlements from Ocheretyne to Keramik.

The enemy daily carried out 20-30 attacks with anti-aircraft gunships, 60-90 artillery shelling, attacked the brigade’s positions with Grad rockets, mortars, and a large number of FPV drones, and dropped chemicals from drones. As a result, a large number of the unit’s positions and personnel were destroyed by the enemy.

Nevertheless, all the soldiers of the 115th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were in position did not flee, fought with the enemy, who outnumbered our forces 10-15 times, defending every metre of Ukrainian land, thus enabling them to hold the enemy at bay, to consolidate the brigade in more favourable positions on the outskirts of Ocheretyne, to defend the settlement and to allow another fresh brigade to enter the battle, which replaced the 115th Brigade to further defend Ocheretyne.

Every day, the soldiers destroyed a huge amount of enemy manpower, but despite their losses, the enemy sent more and more forces to storm our positions, changing the tactics of assault operations: if earlier they used assault groups of up to 5 soldiers, in our direction they used up to 15 soldiers in one assault group, and such groups went in two or three directions.

During the offensive in the Ocheretyne direction, the enemy rotated three brigades, which indicates the number of personnel thrown into the breakthrough and destroyed by the 115th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during defensive battles. During the offensive, the enemy constantly brought in fresh forces, which were destroyed mostly by a small number of Ukrainian soldiers.

Once again, we would like to draw attention to the fact that the 115th Brigade transferred the area of responsibility in the vicinity of the settlements of Ocheretyne and Keramik to another brigade. At the time, these settlements were under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

We also affirm that not a single regular unit of the 115th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine abandoned or fled, as reported by the Russian media, but heroically held their ground.

Currently, a commission is working on these events and an internal investigation is underway. Upon completion of the investigation, we will provide a detailed commentary on the events near Ocheretyne.

The story of Roman Pohorilyi is a vivid example of how one person, who had nothing to do with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defamed the honour and dignity of an entire brigade, devalued the lives of every fallen soldier not only in the battle of Ocheretyne but throughout the entire large-scale war with the aggressor.

At the same time, we would like to note that the media, primarily Ukrainian, must take a thoughtful and balanced approach to events on any sector of the front and publish information voiced exclusively by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
