In Kyiv region, a city council deputy was detained for taking a bribe
In the Kyiv region, one of the deputies of the Myroniv City Council was detained while receiving a bribe. The man promised the entrepreneur for 10 thousand US dollars to help in a positive solution to the issue of obtaining a plot of land for rent in the city center.
First Deputy Head of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Kyiv Region Andriy Svatok reported this on his Facebook page. The suspect faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
“Using his status as a deputy of the Myroniv city council of the Obukhov district of the Kyiv region and the powers of a member of the land commission, he promised the entrepreneur to assist in a positive solution to the issue of obtaining a lease of a plot of communal property in the city center. This cost the entrepreneur 10 thousand US dollars,” said Svatok.
He added that the attacker was caught red-handed - while receiving money and transferring the decision to a session of the City Council.
As the press service of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported, the deputy was informed of suspicion of receiving illegal benefits. The court chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of detention with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of 450 thousand UAH.
