Prosecutor General Kostin did not come to the Rada to report on his deputy Verbytskyi
The scale of discrediting parliamentarism in Ukraine continues to amaze and brings us “closer” to democracy and the EU.
And this is not done by some hands of the Kremlin, but by our own officials. Today, Prosecutor General Kostin was summoned to parliament with a report on the “economic achievements and expenses” of his deputy Dmytro Verbytskyi.
But Kostin openly refused to respond to the people’s deputies’ challenge, demonstrating the insignificance of the main branch of power in the state.
This is a very dangerous path.
It’s scary to imagine that, having seen enough of the prosecutors’ neglect of parliament, citizens will begin to ignore the laws adopted by parliament.
What?
How are 226 votes for a law different from 226 votes for Kostin’s report? Nothing.
Both are the decisions of the highest legislative body. Also under martial law.
It turns out that there is no instrument in the country to influence the enrichment of prosecutors during the war? It turns out that no.
De jure, we are a parliamentary-presidential republic, with a claim to the club of democratic countries.
De facto, we are a conceptually criminal country of manual control, but with the same claim to the club of democratic states. But with this approach, the claim to democracy turns into an unattainable dream.
