Case of scandalous MoD supplier Hrynkevych goes to court

Ihor Hrynkevych faces up to 8 years in prison for offering a $500,000 bribe.

Lviv businessman will appear in court. He is suspected of trying to bribe one of the heads of the Main Investigation Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in the amount of $500 thousand, the State Bureau of Investigation reports.

The SBI did not name the businessman, but it is clear that this is the scandalous case of Igor Hrynkevych.

Law enforcers recalled that the businessman wanted to pay a bribe for "assistance" in returning the seized property and closing criminal proceedings against the companies he controlled, which were among the largest suppliers to the Ministry of Defence.

The SBI official immediately informed his superiors that the businessman was trying to bribe him. The suspect then arranged a meeting with him at a restaurant, where he handed over the cash. He was immediately detained by the SBI.

The businessman now faces up to 8 years in prison with the possibility of confiscation of property.

As a reminder, law enforcement officers are also investigating a case of misappropriation of budget funds during the supply of inadequate quality property to the Ministry of Defence. Companies controlled by Ihor Hrynkevych are suspected of this. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Not only Ihor Hrynkevych, but also his son Roman were notified of the suspicion. In total, Hrynkevych’s companies failed to fulfil an order from the Ministry of Defence worth UAH 1.5 billion. They were supposed to deliver clothes for soldiers. The damage to the state is estimated at over UAH 1 billion.
