Murder of a major in Ternopil: the officer who committed the crime was detained

The sergeant died at the scene, and the major was detained; the issue of notifying him of suspicion of premeditated murder and choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being decided.

The press secretary of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western region, Yulia Shevchenko, told reporters about this for 20 minutes in Ternopil.

“At approximately 03.00 on July 21, a major of one of the military units fired several shots from the weapon assigned to him (a pistol) at a 25-year-old border service soldier. The latter died from bullet wounds at the scene of the incident. It was previously established that the conflict arose on the ground.” - says Mrs. Julia. “The officer was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine. The issue of notifying him of suspicion of premeditated murder and choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being decided.”
