Ministry of Defence discussed further cooperation in the field of security with the Japanese Ambassador
Deputy Minister of Defence for European Integration Alexander Balanutsa and Japanese Ambassador Matsuda Kuninori discussed further cooperation between the states and the recently signed Agreement on Support for Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine .
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to Japan for the political and economic support of Ukraine and noted the importance of supporting partnerships with Eastern countries.
“ Japan is also a member of the Mine Action Coalition and the IT Coalition – we are looking forward to your active participation and the transfer of possible equipment,” he noted.
The delegations also discussed the importance of Ukraine joining the Shangri-La Dialogue. Kuninori emphasized the importance of the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the current forum.
The ambassador said that although Japan is not a NATO member, it supports Ukraine’s path to Euro-Atlantic integration.
Balanutsa, for his part, emphasized that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and NATO is “primarily about the standards and values that the state promotes, and not hopes for protection by someone else’s hands.”
The Ukrainian side, among other things, thanked its eastern partners for their assistance in the rehabilitation of the defenders of Ukraine and emphasized the need to increase the volume of this assistance, taking into account the intensity of hostilities.
