US announces new $200 million aid package for Ukraine
US announces new $200 million aid package for Ukraine

The United States has allocated another $200 million package of military assistance to Ukraine. In particular, the support will strengthen Ukrainian air defence.

This was announced by White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby, as quoted by Voice of America.

The funds will be provided under the special presidential powers program. This assistance will include air defense equipment, HIMARS artillery ammunition, mortar shells, Javelin anti-tank missiles.

The Department of Defence is also providing long-term support through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative fund to strengthen air defense, long-range strike and anti-tank capabilities.
