20-year-old man goes missing in Zakarpattia region: incident is linked to TRC
In Zakarpattia, 20-year-old Oleksandr Hashevskyi disappeared. The incident is linked to representatives of the territorial recruitment centre.
This was reported by TSN on Monday, July 29.
Recently, former MP Ihor Mosiychuk and Oleksandr’s family lawyer Oleh Veremiyenko suggested that the Verkhovyna TRC may have been involved in the boy’s disappearance. They publicly stated that the servicemen could have beaten and abducted the boy during a document check when he was returning from a mountain holiday.
The father of the missing man, Mykola Hashevskyi, says that the fate of his son remains unknown, there are only unconfirmed assumptions.
"Today, on 29 July, I am going to see the investigator. The investigator told me that a body had been found somewhere and that I had to go for identification," he said.
Recently, there was also unofficial information that a man’s body had been found in the Tisa River.
"Perhaps they threw him in dead or half-dead," Oleksandr’s father speculates.
He stressed that his son had no motive to flee abroad.
Colonel Oleksandr Seletskyi, the head and acting commander of the ’West’ operational command, also responded to the disappearance incident in a comment to the media.
"On 14 July 2024, citizen Hashevskyi O.M. was not checked or detained by the military personnel of the Verkhovyna TRC and SS and/or other representatives of the security sector," he said.
According to him, Hashevskyi is not a violator of mobilisation legislation.
"Given the public outcry and within our competence, based on the available data from the Unified Electronic Register of Conscripts, Persons Liable for Military Service and Reservists "Oberih", we can certify that citizen Oleksandr Mykolayovych Gashevskyi, born in 2003, is officially registered in Lviv. Lviv and registered with the Lychakiv-Zaliznychnyi Joint RTC and JV of the Lviv RTC and JV in January 2020, and is not a violator of military registration and is listed as eligible for deferment of conscription. The Ivano-Frankivsk RTRC and SS has no other information about this citizen," Seletskyi said.
The operational command "West" calls the public actions of Ihor Mosiychuk and Oleh Veremiyenko speculative.
"Speculative actions in the information space of citizens I. Mosiychuk and O. Veremiyenko, which consist of direct accusations of alleged illegal actions of representatives of the Verkhovyna Territorial Centre for Recruitment and Social Support, will be checked by law enforcement agencies within their powers and competencies," Seletsky added.
The State Bureau of Investigation, to which Oleksandr’s father had recently applied, confirmed the fact of the appeal.
"On 23.07.2024, the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Lviv received statements from M. Gashevskyi regarding the disappearance of his son and the possible involvement of employees of the Verkhovyna RTC and JV. Based on the results of the study of the statements, no signs of criminal offences under the jurisdiction of the SBI in Lviv were found," the SBI press service said.
They stressed that the statements were sent to the Main Department of the National Police in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
"In addition, the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv Oblast National Police is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the disappearance of Gashevsky on 19 July 2024 on the grounds of a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the SBI added.
