Yuriy Lutsenko stated that Ukraine needs a ceasefire

Former Prosecutor General and ally of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, Yuriy Lutsenko, stated that Ukraine needs a ceasefire.

«President Trump will certainly not give all of Ukraine to Putin. But whether we retain our right to a missile arsenal to deter the enemy and bilateral serious military assistance agreements depends on who will shape Ukraine’s position. Therefore, we need a ceasefire. This will open the possibility to hold elections not only for the President of Ukraine but also for the Commander-in-Chief, who will determine the format of the peace agreement. The choice is simple: Minsk or Istanbul. An armed fortress or a defenseless victim», wrote Lutsenko on his Facebook page, reflecting on the current situation.

It should be noted that Lutsenko’s opinion (the necessity of ending the war as soon as possible) has recently found support in opposition circles. And not only in Poroshenko’s party.

The opposition considers the end of the war as a way to unblock the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections, in which they expect Zelenskyy and his political force to be defeated and lose power.

Let me remind you, according to social surveys recently published by Western and Ukrainian media, in the presidential elections, Zelenskyy might lose to the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhnyi.
