The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has identified unjustified assets worth nearly 20 million hryvnias belonging to one of the heads of a service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Reported by NACP.

"The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has identified signs of illegal enrichment of one of the heads of the territorial service center of the RSC MSC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The monitoring of the official’s lifestyle was initiated after independently discovered circumstances," the statement reads.

The audit found that, from 2021 to 2023, the official purchased several vehicles at undervalued prices and sold them at significantly higher prices, receiving substantial financial gain. Close associates of the declarant were also involved in this scheme.

In cooperation with the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), it was discovered that during the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, in March 2022, the official purchased five apartments in the resort towns of Georgia — Batumi and Bakuriani. The total area of the real estate objects ranges from 37 to 87 square meters, and their value ranges from 30,000 to 82,000 dollars. The total value of these acquisitions exceeds 7.19 million hryvnias.

Overall, the expenses of the official and his family on the acquisition of movable and immovable property reach nearly 20 million hryvnias. Meanwhile, the NACP established a lack of legitimate income that could explain such financial expenditures.

The materials concerning the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center have been sent to the Office of the Prosecutor General for further entry into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal enrichment).
