Accident of Russian tankers: fuel oil penetrated the soil, groundwater at risk

An ecological disaster in the Black Sea is gaining momentum: fuel oil has penetrated the soil to a depth of up to 60 cm, creating a threat to groundwater.

54 km of the coastline of the Krasnodar region has been polluted. 6,000 people and 300 units of equipment are involved in the operation.

The spill of fuel oil from Russian tankers has already led to the death of hundreds of animals. A state of emergency has been declared in Kerch and the Leninskyi district of Crimea.
