In the SSU explained how Nestor Shufrych can work from the detention centre
The People’s Deputy of Ukraine, suspected of treason, Nestor Shufrych, can fulfill his duties as a people’s representative. However, he can only perform this remotely, as the suspected deputy will remain in the detention center.
His colleagues previously noted that the Shevchenkivskyi district court of Kyiv allowed Shufrych to perform his duties as a deputy. The Security Service of Ukraine confirmed this information but clarified that the people’s representative would not be released.
The Security Service of Ukraine also stated that Shufrych would be allowed to work as a deputy only in writing.
"Shufrych will continue to remain in custody at the SSU detention center, and he will have the general obligations of an inmate. His execution of deputy duties will be carried out within the possibilities of being in the SSU detention center. In particular, this includes the preparation and sending of written appeals, requests, etc.," the Security Service noted.
The agency reminded that at the end of last year, the court rejected Shufrych’s lawyers’ motion to deliver the deputy to the Verkhovna Rada sessions.
"Thus, the court’s decision excludes his transfer to parliament," the Security Service emphasized.
