In the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it was explained why the mine in Pokrovsk was blown up
Donetsk miners significantly aided the Armed Forces of Ukraine by blowing up the Pokrovsk mine before their departure.
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian Armed Forces volunteer and political scientist Kyrylo Sazonov in an interview for the YouTube channel "Fabryka Novyn".
Recently, it became known that the Donbas miners destroyed a unique Ukrainian mine to prevent the enemy from using it for their own purposes.
"I am originally from Donbas and am somewhat familiar with these places," said the military expert. "In fact, a lot can be done underground. By the way, 90% of the enemy’s losses occur precisely when they try to reach our positions, so the Russians use armored vehicles, buggies, motorcycles, and any means to reach us faster. When there is an opportunity to go underground, they always take that risk."
The use of underground tunnels once helped the Russians capture Avdiivka. The occupiers also tried to apply this tactic in Chasiv Yar, but it didn’t work out due to a different situation, Sazonov reminded.
"Regarding Pokrovsk, mines are not just places where coal is extracted. There are many ventilation shafts that go close to the surface. If you know them (and the Russians likely have locals who have switched to their side and know these shafts), you will have opportunities to bypass our positions, get into the rear or flanks through these ventilation shafts, and so on," the military expert explained.
That is why all these underground tunnels need to be destroyed, the military expert emphasized. The Russians should not have access to them.
