In the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers uncovered a criminal group involved in human trafficking
The perpetrators held over 30 women in one of the entertainment clubs and forced them to provide sexual services. They could spend the next 15 years behind bars.
Officers of the Migration Police Department, together with investigators from the Kyiv Region Police, identified the organizers and members of a criminal group involved in human trafficking—from organizing and administration to security for the so-called club. Two of them are foreigners who have previously been convicted of similar crimes.
Under the guise of offering jobs as dancers in the club, the traffickers invited women and then, under threats, forced them to provide sexual services to clients. Over 30 women worked in the establishment under the close supervision and constant pressure of the perpetrators.
Employees of the Migration Police Department, together with officers from the SSU department in Kyiv and Kyiv Region and investigators from Kyiv Region Police, conducted a series of sanctioned searches in the club premises, residences, and vehicles of the suspects. Money, computer equipment, mobile phones, rough notes, and other evidence were seized.
The actions of the suspects have been classified under Part 2 of Article 149 (Human Trafficking) and Part 2 of Article 303 (Pimping or Involvement of a Person in Prostitution) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing preventive measures is being raised, as well as notifying other participants of suspicion according to their roles in the unlawful activities.
