President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to personally meet with US President Donald Trump next week in Washington to discuss a minerals agreement.

This was reported by Radio NV, citing sources in the Ukrainian government.

According to the publication, Ukraine has submitted new proposals on the minerals agreement to the special envoy of the US President, Keith Kellogg, who is currently heading to Washington where he has a planned meeting with Trump.

As Radio NV’s sources noted, the Ukrainian side proposed reducing the future fund to $100 billion, where revenues from mining on territories controlled by Ukraine would be deposited. Previously, the US had proposed setting the fund size at $500 billion.

Additionally, the Ukrainian government expressed the desire for a personal meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump next week in Washington to continue discussing all possible terms of the deal.

The new proposals for the agreement also take into account not only revenues from minerals but also from ports, and they encompass oil and gas.

"The main reason for Kellogg’s visit to Kyiv was ultimately this deal. Trump told him: you have one task – the deal, so it was worked on for all three days that Kellogg was in Kyiv," said the publication’s source.

He added that the President of Ukraine was uncertain about whether he should sign the agreement and consulted with his circle. In particular, he held a meeting with heads of various departments dedicated to the agreement.

"The meeting was emotional, and President and Head of Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov even had a slight disagreement over the deal, as they had differing views on some issues, but in the end, the president is leaning towards signing the agreement in an improved form," the source added.
