The Ministry of Defence revealed how many FPV drones are planned to be purchased

In 2025, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine intends to purchase approximately 4.5 million FPV drones for the needs of the Ukrainian army. These actions will quickly saturate the front with drones.

This was announced by the head of the Department of Procurement Policy of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Hlib Kanevskyi. According to him, over the past three years, the Ministry of Defence has remained the largest drone purchaser in Ukraine.

"If in 2023 the Ministry of Defence purchased thousands of drones, by the end of 2024, together with the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, we purchased over 1.5 million drones. This year, the numbers will be even higher, as the domestic military-industrial complex’s capacity in 2025 is approximately 4.5 million FPV drones. And the Ministry of Defence plans to purchase all of them," Kanevskyi noted.

He added that 96% of the funds were paid to Ukrainian manufacturers and suppliers, which positively impacted the development of the UAV production industry in Ukraine. This year, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine plans to allocate over 110 billion UAH for drone procurement, of which over 102 billion UAH will be directed through the Defence Procurement Agency.

According to Hlib Kanevskyi, all procurement plans for 2025 have budgetary support, allowing the fastest provision of the front with unmanned aerial vehicles. He also emphasized that the launch of drone production at one of the state-owned enterprises, which the Ministry of Defence reported earlier this year, will contribute to increased competition.

Minimal markups and constant control by the ministry at all stages of production may encourage other manufacturers and suppliers to reduce prices.
