The European Commission, as part of the G7 loan, transferred 1 billion euros to Ukraine
Today, the European Commission announced the payment of €1 billion to Ukraine as part of a G7 loan, which will be paid and serviced through proceeds from frozen Russian assets.
This information was published today on the website of the European Commission.
«Today, the European Commission paid an additional tranche of €1 billion as part of the exceptional macro-financial assistance loan to Ukraine, which is to be paid through proceeds from frozen Russian state assets in the EU. This reinforces the EU’s role as the largest donor since the start of the Russian war against Ukraine», the statement reads.
"Ukraine received 1 billion euros from the European Union under the ERA initiative. This is the second tranche from the EU, secured by revenues from frozen Russian assets. The funds will be directed towards priority state budget expenditures. In total, under the G7 initiative, European partners have already provided Ukraine with 4 billion euros," wrote Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram.
Shmyhal noted that frozen Russian assets should serve Ukraine and assured that the government would work to fully confiscate them and direct them towards Ukraine’s reconstruction.
