Hrynkevych’s accomplice, who fled to Vienna, was declared a suspect in absentia

The State Bureau of Investigation has charged in absentia an associate of the Hrynkevych family, whom the investigation considers a member of an organized crime group that misappropriated over 1.16 billion hryvnias through a scheme involving the supply of substandard military equipment to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

This information was obtained by the media from the relevant criminal proceedings.

Investigators established that the man is a close childhood friend of Roman Hrynkevych, as well as a co-founder of the charitable organization "Hope.UA" (EDRPOU 44681121). This organization is linked to the financial operations of the suspects, including the use of charitable structures to conceal or launder funds obtained illegally.

Through controlled companies ("TLR" LLC, "BAM," "BC Cityhrad"), the perpetrators signed inflated contracts for the supply of military equipment. However, the products supplied by these companies did not meet the required standards, resulting in billion-dollar losses for the Ministry of Defence.

According to operational data, the man entered Ukraine on August 28, 2023, through the "Krakivets" checkpoint. In January 2024, he illegally crossed the border and, according to the State Bureau of Investigation, is currently hiding in Vienna. In February, the court decided to arrest him in absentia.

Law enforcement is preparing documents to announce an international search and extradition from Austria. This might concern a relative of Hrynkevych — a co-founder of the Hope UA fund, Volodymyr Benyu. He is the son of Iryna Benyu, the sister of Ihor Hrynkevych’s wife.
