The SSU commented on the involvement of freelance employees in Komarnytskyi’s escape abroad

The press service of the Security Service of Ukraine provided an official comment regarding the situation involving individuals who assisted corruption suspect Denys Komarnytskyi in fleeing abroad.

According to the statement, the individuals who helped Komarnytskyi reach the Zakarpattia region are not regular employees of the SSU.

«The individuals who assisted D. Komarnytskyi are not regular employees of the SSU», — it is noted in the comment. The SSU reported that two figures in the case have already been detained, they have been charged, while another two are witnesses, whose procedural status will be determined later.

It has become known that these individuals were working as freelance employees until the beginning of February, but after that, they lost this status and no longer had the right to present SSU identification. They did not receive any monetary compensation and were not part of the special service staff. Therefore, at the time of Komarnytskyi’s escape, these individuals no longer had any connection to the SSU.

The SSU press service also noted that law enforcement continues to investigate and take measures to locate and extradite Komarnytskyi. It is expected that the punishment for the accomplices in the escape will be determined within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

Currently, the public awaits a response from the National Police, which may also be involved in this investigation, given the participation of individuals with National Police SID identifications in criminal activities.
