Ukrainian troops are capable of controlling a possible "maritime truce," – the Navy commander
The Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, Oleksiy Neyizhpapa, assured that the Defence Forces will be able to monitor compliance with the ceasefire in the Black Sea in case it is achieved.
He told the "Crimea.Realities" project about this.
“It’s very simple. We are currently monitoring the sea. You see the daily reports from the Navy about how many enemy ships are at sea. We are fully monitoring the situation. Both we and the Air Force, and the intelligence forces, the Ministry of Defence. We have complete information about where and what is happening and what the enemy is doing,” explained the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy.
He also added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have their own intelligence system, but Ukraine’s partners have better and broader capabilities.
When asked whether the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy believes in a ceasefire, Neizhpapa noted that “it depends on who wants to achieve what.”
“I think it is possible. Because the military follows orders. From the Russian side, of course, they are criminals, but they are military. On our side, of course, the Armed Forces, the Defence Forces – we follow the orders given by our leadership. If a ’Stop’ command is issued, it is followed. If there is no ’Stop’ command, we continue to operate,” explained the vice-admiral.
