Norway will allocate 830 million euros for the training of a Ukrainian brigade

Norway will allocate 10 billion kroner (830 million euros) for the training and equipping of a Ukrainian Armed Forces brigade, which will be formed from already existing smaller units. The project will be implemented jointly with the Nordic and Baltic countries.

This was reported by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence.

As the country’s Defence Minister, Tore Onshuus Sandvik, noted at the meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels, the brigade is being formed in cooperation with the Nordic and Baltic countries. This is not the creation of an entirely new unit, but rather the strengthening of existing Ukrainian brigades with smaller units that can quickly integrate.

As Sandvik pointed out, Norway plays a key role in this initiative by providing equipment, ammunition, and military training.

The goal is to create a fully operational land forces combat unit capable of operating independently. Typically, a brigade consists of 3,000 to 5,000 soldiers. The project is flexible and scalable.

Separately, the Norwegian Defence Minister held a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umerov, during which they also discussed support for Ukraine within the framework of other international initiatives.
