In the Russian city of Orenburg, there was a large-scale fire at a CHP plant
In the morning of April 13, in Orenburg (RF), after a loud explosion, a large fire broke out at the Sakmarskaya Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHPP). In the local emergency service that accepts calls about emergencies, the fire was explained as a "short circuit at the transformer substation."
Local residents complained about the electricity outage in part of the houses after the "bang." This was reported by Russian Telegram channels.
The moment of the explosion in Orenburg was captured on surveillance camera footage. Judging by the frames, the explosion occurred at 05:08 local time. After that, a powerful fire broke out at the CHPP, which was visible from various parts of the city.

Residents began writing online that the sound of the powerful explosion woke them up and frightened them greatly. Immediately after that, they reported power outages in residential buildings.

Also, Russians, referring to widely circulated videos online, claimed that a humming sound, which preceded the explosion in Orenburg, could be heard in the footage. However, the regional authorities did not confirm information about a drone attack.
The local publication in the Unified Duty Dispatch Service noted that in the Sakmarskaya CHPP area on Tereshkova Street, a "short circuit occurred at the transformer substation."

According to open data, the Sakmarskaya CHPP is part of the Orenburg branch of PJSC "T Plus" and is intended to supply Orenburg with hot water, heating, and electricity, providing heat to a total of 80% of the city.
