The Defence Forces in the Kursk region neutralized the battalion commander of the "Akhmat" brigade

The Ukrainian Defence Forces have eliminated the battalion commander of the "Akhmat" brigade in the Kursk region.

This was reported by Apti Alaudinov on his Telegram page.

The elimination of the Chechen commander Buvaysar Umkhanov, with the call sign "Tarzan," was the result of a strike on the command post in the Kursk region, where his unit was operating.

He led a battalion of the 4th Special Purpose Brigade "Akhmat" and was involved in kidnappings and murders of Ukrainian civilians in 2022, for which he was listed in the "Myrotvorets" database.

"Our brother Buvaysar Umkhanov, call sign ’Tarzan,’ has died," the statement said.

Umkhanov was from the village of Grebenskaya in the Shelkovsky district of the Chechen Republic.

The unit he commanded was under the control of the Russian Ministry of Defence and operated in the Kursk region to maintain control over the aggressor country’s state border.

Despite propagandists’ claims about the liberation of the Kursk region, the official information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine states that the Defence Forces are still operating on enemy territory, restraining the Russian army.
