Shmyhal and Kallas discussed the situation at the front and Ukraine’s defence needs
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal held a meeting in Lviv with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, during which Ukraine’s defense needs and the situation at the front were discussed.
The head of government reported this on Telegram.
"An intense and friendly meeting with the EU High Representative Kaja Kallas in Lviv. It is important and symbolic that on Europe Day, European partners stand with Ukraine. We discussed a wide range of issues, including the situation at the front and defense needs," wrote the prime minister.

According to him, Ukraine expects that the provisions for the new SAFE instrument will be approved soon.
"This will allow Ukraine to participate in joint procurement of necessary defense products with EU member states both in the European market and directly from Ukrainian manufacturers," he noted.
Shmyhal thanked for the initiative to allocate 1 billion euros for the Ukrainian defence industry, as well as for the initiative to increase military support for Ukraine in 2025.
The participants of the meeting separately discussed the topic of sanctions against Russia.
"We expect that the 17th package will be agreed and approved by European countries as soon as possible. It is necessary to increase pressure on the aggressor to compel it to peace. We also expect further work on the issue of confiscating frozen Russian assets and directing them to Ukraine’s needs," stated the head of government.
The prime minister thanked Kaja Kallas for her personal contribution to supporting Ukraine.
"We value the EU’s solidarity with Ukraine during this challenging time," he added.
