The Polish prosecutor’s office has charged Polish citizen Paweł K., who last year assisted in organizing an assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

On Tuesday, May 20, Rzeczpospolita reported this.

The investigation established that Paweł K. agreed to collaborate with Russian military intelligence and made contact with Russians fighting against Ukraine.

His task was to provide information about the security system of Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, which could have been used to prepare an assassination attempt on the Ukrainian president.

The suspicious activities of Paweł K. were reported to Polish law enforcement by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine. The investigation was also joined by the SSU, the Polish prosecutor’s office, and the Polish Internal Security Agency.

Polish law enforcement noted that thanks to joint efforts, it was possible to gather the necessary evidence and establish key circumstances of the case.

Paweł K. has been officially charged with willingness to cooperate with foreign intelligence against the interests of Poland. If found guilty, he faces up to eight years in prison.
