In Rivne, a detention center employee was drawn into the drug business through a romance with an inmate
In Rivne, a detention facility employee was exposed, who was drawn into drug business through a romantic relationship with a detainee. Under the influence of personal relations with the detainee, he became an accomplice of an organized group. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.
It is known that in December 2024, the prisoner, who was in a romantic relationship with the detention facility employee, persuaded him to help supply drugs to the institution’s territory.
The woman acted on the instructions of the main organizer of the drug trafficking — a previously convicted man, who at the time of the scheme’s implementation was held in the same facility on charges related to drug trafficking and criminal influence.
Under the pressure of an emotional connection, the officer agreed to participate in the scheme. He received drugs in his name following the prisoner’s instructions, after which he brought the prohibited substances into the facility.
The detainee, under the guise of deliveries, handed over the "goods" to the organizer, who then distributed the drugs among other inmates of the detention facility.
The illegal turnover included buprenorphine, methamphetamine, cannabis, and psychoactive substances of the PVP type ("bath salts").
The State Bureau of Investigation noted that the detention center employee did not take money for participation in the crime — his “reward” was intimate photos and correspondence with the detainee, which were likely tools of influence.
The officer was caught "red-handed" during the receipt of the next batch of drugs.
The woman who persuaded the detention facility employee has already been sentenced in another case — she was sentenced to 5 years and 2 months of imprisonment, which she will serve in another institution.
All three persons involved — the detention facility employee, the detainee, and the organizer — were notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, and sale of drugs in a place of deprivation of liberty, committed by an organized group repeatedly).
They face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
