Ukrainian Operation "Web" is rewriting military history, - Kallas

The EU’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas stated that recent Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian strategic military aviation are "rewriting military history". 

She remarked this upon arriving at the NATO defence ministers’ meeting in Brussels on Thursday.

According to her, the operation known as "Web" demonstrates how relatively inexpensive drones can destroy extremely expensive aviation, changing the very nature of modern warfare.

"Last weekend, we witnessed Ukrainian drone attacks that are essentially rewriting military history. This involves using drones worth thousands of dollars to destroy aircraft that cost millions. This increases the cost of the war for Russia once again – and forces it to consider the necessity of peace," Kallas said.

At the same time, she emphasized that Russia is not changing its tactics and continues systematic attacks on the civilian population and infrastructure of Ukraine.

"Let me remind you that attacks on civilians or civilian infrastructure are contrary to international humanitarian law, and Russia does this constantly. Our response should not be to step back. Our response should be to apply greater pressure on Russia so that it too seeks peace," Kallas stated.
