Ukraine and Germany plan joint weapons production, - Zelenskyy
Ukraine intends to develop joint weapons production with Germany based on domestic military-industrial technologies. This partnership aims to strengthen the defence capabilities of both countries and ensure sustainable technological exchange in the face of modern security challenges.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press briefing following a meeting with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. The head of state emphasized that Ukraine is not ready to open its technologies to all partners, as there are risks associated with their further use in potentially hostile directions. However, such cooperation with Germany is possible, thanks to a high level of trust.
"We cannot share our technologies with all partners because we understand that there is a risk that they may end up somewhere from where aggression may subsequently emanate. That’s why we need only those whom we can trust, and we trust Germany," Zelenskyy noted.
According to the country’s leader, Ukraine is interested in creating production capacities both on its own territory and directly in Germany. This will strengthen the defence capabilities of both countries and contribute to the development of joint military-industrial potential.
"It is important for us to have a production line in Ukraine and joint production in Germany," he emphasized.
Moreover, Zelenskyy stressed that the Ukrainian defence-industrial complex is already ready for large-scale investment.
"We have the opportunity today to utilize our capabilities in weapons production for approximately $30 billion. This is not only for Germany, it’s not about your budget," he clarified.
Joint cooperation in the field of security and technology between Ukraine and Germany is becoming increasingly close, indicating the strategic partnership of the countries in the context of the ongoing war with Russia.
